GEWAMED Project results

The strategic objectives will be achieved through the activities that will be undertaken under the project. The results are closely linked to the intended objectives, as indicated below:

In relation to the strategic objectives 1:

Building a national and regional shared knowledge base on gender issues, policies, action and measures to support gender mainstreaming in all process related to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). This objective will be achieved through:

Output 1. Establishment of a national Internet network in Tunisia
Output 2. Establish of a national network in Tunisia
Output 3. Produce report containing a set of gender indicators that will allow the assessment of the women and men’s role in the Water Resources Management at the regional, national and local levels.

In relation to the strategic objectives 2:

Enhance the cooperation and dialogue in Tunisia and among Mediterranean countries promoting the exchange of information and its dissemination among national governmental agencies, NGO’s research institutions, international organizations, private sector and communication media involved in gender related issues and the water sector.

Output 4. Improve the collaboration between stakeholders and organisations though the creation of the national networks

Output 5. Improve the collaboration through the creation of a national committee to coordinate and disseminate activities undertaken by the project stakeholders at national level.

Output 6. Increase awareness inside the society in general and agriculture sector in particular in order to integrate gender dimensions in the developments issues and water management.
Output 7. Disseminate the projects results within the society through the organisations of the national and regional seminars.  

In relation to the strategic objectives 3:

Contribute to the adoption of national policies and other related instruments (strategies, approaches, guidelines, incentives and legislation) by involving decision makers and politicians in the processes of mainstreaming gender dimensions in IWRM

Output 8. The adoption of national policies to promote the integration of the gender dimensions in the planning, the development and the management of the water resources. Also, implement related instruments (strategies, approaches, guidelines, incentives and legislation), review national policies related to gender approach in the water sector and improve the institutional capacities by developping  the approach through the organisation of the national seminars on the institutional and political gender approach to mainstream gender dimensions in IWRM.
